Email Management and Email Archiving
by admin in email marketing tips
The necessity for better email management and email archiving grows everyday. Email (electronic mail) changes and evolves with technology. In order to understand the email management technology that will be best for you or for your business let’s take a step back and look at the origins of email itself.
Where Did Email Come From?
Believe it or not, email actually existed before the Internet did. The use of email began as early as 1965 when users of mainframe computers (huge computers that are used to store massive amount of data such as census reports, etc.) would share time on one computer because it was impossible to buy lots of little personal computers as there were none. These mainframe computer users would leave electronic messages on the computer for other users who would be using the same computer at another time. In a way, it was like simply leaving a note on an office desk for a co-worker, but the message was electronic and thus did represent an early form of electronic mail.
The ARPANET Contributes to Email and Email Management
The ARPANET computer network was the intellectual predecessor to the Internet. The ARPANET was also the first network that allowed data to be transferred in packets (referred to as packet switching). Transferring data in packets allowed more information and communication to go through one physical line instead of many lines which either carried communication from one node to another or were dormant as was often the case when circuit switching was the main method of data transport. The ARPANET greatly increased the popularity of using email as a means of communication. The ARPANET probably also led to folders and other email management tools, which were helpful in the organization and location of specific emails.
What About the @ Sign?
The development and the evolution of the ARPANET also led to new developments in electronic mail. Ray Tomlinson was one of the privileged few who had access to the ARPANET and was the first to use the @ sign to separate the name of the user from the name of his/her computer. Through the developments of the ARPANET and Ray Tomlinson’s contributions, email rapidly became more popular amongst computer literates. Email soon became the killer application of the ARPANET.
Additional Email Management Solutions
As more and more people began to be aware of the ARPANET, they began to be aware of the benefits of rapid electronic communication. Because of the demand, other protocols were developed for other groups with time-sharing computers. These protocols allowed many groups to send electronic messages to each other. They then started sending messages to other computers which required the name of the sender’s computer and the name of the receiver’s computer instead of just one sender name and one computer name.
Networked Email and Increased Email Management
With the development of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), email was able to be transferred electronically from one node to another or from one computer to many others. The process today uses mail user agents and mail transfer agents to send emails almost anywhere in the world.
Email Management Tools
Email management solutions are in demand today. Users want email management tools to do the following:
1) Store copies of in-bound, out-bound, and internal e-mails.
2) Provide spam, failover, anti-virus, data storage, and compliance services.
3) Avoid negative affects on email management users and email management infrastructure.
4) Make installation easy with e-mail archiving, spam filter, compliance, anti-virus.
5) Provide 2TB of RAID 5 storage.

Duplication Is The Key To Making $3,905 Per Month
by admin in email marketing tips
If you have been around the Internet home based business scene for any length of time, you realize that duplication is the key to making money from home. If you are new to the Internet and specifically making money from home, you have probably experienced the frustration of trying to learn how to blog, or how to use pay per click advertising, or the finer points of search engine optimization.
What if there was a program that did not require you to do any of that. All you have to know how to do is turn on your computer, sign into your favorite e-mail provider (yahoo, hotmail, or gmail) and copy and paste the exact e-mail provided at the website below. The one time process takes less than 30 minutes and if you follow the easy to follow 6-step process outlined there, you will have an income of $3,905 per month in the next 35 days.
This is not some pie-in-the-sky program. The company associated with the program is FTC Certified, meaning that it has already complied with all of the government regulations regarding Internet marketing. It has also been around for over 10 years. If a company can survive and even thrive in this type of business environment, you can rest assured that it will be around for many years to come.
Also, this program cost very little to join and maintain. There are Internet home based businesses out there that require you to spend literally hundreds of dollars PER MONTH to be a part of their organization. This program is free to join and cost only $10 per month to maintain your business. That means that most everybody out there with an Internet connection and 30 minutes can have life changing income in the next 35 days.
If this sounds interesting to you and you would like to find out more about how the duplication process works, CLICK HERE! and see how easy this new duplication process really is.

"Email Crush!"
by admin in email marketing tips
Analysts predict that the volume of email on the Internet,
most of it junk, will grow another 50 percent in 2002.
That is a lot of email!
With estimates that the number of Internet users is nearing
the 1 billion mark, the amount of email floating around the
Internet is only going to increase and problems will get worse.
Anyone online can tell you that a huge part of the problem
is SPAM, or the Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE).
The subject has been beaten like a dead horse and no viable
solution is in sight. No, not even federal legislation can stop
or fix this problem adequately.
The person or person(s) that do find the solution will go down
as genuine heroes in Internet history.
Ironically, there is another side to this entire problem that
has yet to be addressed. The irony is that it comes to us
from established, legal sources, not the spammers.
We have all received their email.
The From: field says, “Mail Delivery System”.
The Subject: field says, “Mail Delivery Failed”.
And the Body: of the email begins with, “This
message was created automatically by mail
delivery software (Exim).”
This is especially true if you have a mailing list.
I send out email to my list of over 7100, 100% OPT-IN
subscribers twice each week and it causes me to be
bombarded with hundreds of emails daily!
It starts with an email message that states, “WARNING”,
your message could not be delivered but you need do nothing.
Then they follow up that message with the “Mail Delivery Failed”,
the vast majority of those emails simply tell me that the intended
recipient has a “Full Mail Box”.
Finally, I receive another email letting me know that they have
still been unable to deliver my email and that it is being deleted
from their list.
For each email I send out that does not make it to where it is
intended, I get back at least three emails.
My experience has been that at least 5% to 10% of every
mailing I send out will come back to me as “Not Delivered”.
That means that each time I send out my list of over 7100
subscribers, I get back at least 2100 “Message Not Delivered”
emails.
Sending out my list twice weekly means I generate over 4200
email replies that I did not request and I do not need nor want!
As far as I am concerned, if my subscriber does not receive my
email because their mail box is full, it is their loss – not mine.
My advertisers do not lose out either as I take these undeliverable
emails into account when posting my subscriber numbers, officially
listed as 6384 this week.
Imagine how much less email would be floating around if
they would simply NOT tell me it was not delivered.
Perhaps the biggest such offender is Exim,
http://www.exim.org/
“Exim is a message transfer agent (MTA) developed at the University
of Cambridge for use on Unix systems connected to the Internet.
It is freely available under the terms of the GNU General Public
License. Its facilities are extensive and in particular it has some
defenses against mail bombs and unsolicited junk mail in the
form of options for refusing messages from particular hosts,
networks, or senders.”
It is unfortunate that we as email recipients can not refuse
email from them!
This organization is otherwise providing an invaluable service
online and at no charge to those that use their software.
Yet the feature of reply to senders when recipients do not
receive the email is clogging and choking off the free flow
of the Internet email system.
And this is not the only problem generated by and from
the established, legal sources of email delivery.
Viruses!
The Love Virus that circled the globe in 2000 caused over a
billion dollars in damage to businesses and individuals.
Daily, I receive scores of infected emails that I simply delete.
So why is this problem allowed to continue?
Why are viruses not deleted by those computers set up
to forward email around the world and that form key parts
of what we know as the Internet?
All of this excessive email flow and virus email is
causing us “Email Crush!”
It is time to express our opinions to people that can
help us do something about these two major problems.

Free targets
by admin in email marketing tips
Free is a lovely word especially when it is your money being saved. It tempts everyone. Where is the catch? The answer should be nowhere.
You need data. Your email marketing software, clever though it is, is useless without input. If you do not aim you will miss. But how to get your potential customers to part with their details is the big problem.
Free requires little targeting as long as it is free. If you try and trick the recipients by using the word less than honestly then they will tend to click the unsubscribe. They must be able to trust you. But there are ways to give with one hand and receive with the other.
Most recipients are experienced in email marketing campaigns so they will expect certain standards to be maintained. They will not expect to pay for the item advertised as free although postage and packing charges are acceptable. But even here they must be reasonable. There is ample evidence to show that extortionate charges generate unsubscribes.
They will expect other things as well.
A tortuous route to the payment page is, in normal circumstances, a risk not worth taking. Customers can become frustrated at what they see a trickery. If they have decided to buy an item then, as far as they are concerned, it should take just a few clicks before they are finished. When free is mentioned expectations change.
You need data. You want to find out what the recipients are interested in. It can be useful to give away an item that has to be refined in some way, by size, colour or other specification. Such proceedings can contain other offers.
The readers’ attention might be drawn to an item that will enhance the ownership of the free one: a matching fleece to go with the T-shirt or perhaps letter-headed paper to match the free business cards. As they click-through for further information you get just that, further information for you email marketing software.
It is a balancing act. You have to work out just how much inconvenience they will suffer before wandering away.

Devising your Email Marketing Plan
by admin in email marketing tips
When you choose to start an e-marketing campaign with your prospects, as well as clients, the plan you choose needs to have a purpose, and there must always be that bit of value for the customer to make them effective. Giving good value, eg. free advice, will convert them into customers a lot of the time.
Following up is critical; you never know when you are going to make the sale. So, the question with regards to your e-marketing plan is:
How to automate the follow-up
Everything that leads to the actual sale can be automated; keeping and updating information, tracking which contacts clicked what, and even new members signing up. Even beginners can use an e-marketing strategy.
With some effort, you can turn a few hours work into a goldmine of potential leads, that will last for some time. The setting-up of this automation is what will take you the most time, and then you can sit back and watch your profits soar!
The easiest way to conduct your e-marketing is through an external client. Personally, I use ConstantContact, but make sure that you look very carefully at other e-marketing software before you sign up for one; once you have put all your information into one system, it is not wise to switch.
Comparing e-marketing software
How easy will it be to set up?
Can you take a free trial before setting up?
Is there a spam checker included?
Is there a limit on the amount of contacts you can have?
How many ‘autoresponder’ emails can you create?
Does the software have templates for emails?
After you have chosen your software, the first thing to do is to import your contacts. You can either import them as a file, or enter them individually. Once this is done, you should send an ‘opt-in’ email, asking the prospects if they would like to receive your e-newsletter, or whatever else you may be using to build a relationship with them.
The most important thing to remember when devising an e-marketing strategy is ‘what’s the point’?
What do you want your e-marketing to do for you? Do you want to build a relationship with your customers, or just simply remind them that you exist?
One other important thing to remember, courtesy of Sonia Simone, is that your sales pitch to value ratio should be 1:3. 1 part selling, and 3 parts giving your readers value, free advice, and building a relationship with them.

What to Ask Graphic Design Clients
by admin in email marketing tips
Option 1: How to Start a Graphic Design Project
Option 2: Graphic Design Project: What You Need to Know
Just as there are systematic steps in starting a business, construction, school or movie projects, there are also ladders to start a graphic design project. Applying correct procedures in starting any project will benefit both the client and the service provider in terms of time, money and energy. If both client and graphic designer will follow these steps carefully, the project will run smoothly and efficiently.
Here are the steps to achieve a successful graphic design project:
1. Determine & analyze your target audience
“Your film is not for everyone but it is for someone.” This quote is not only true to the film industry but to graphic design project as well. Target audience is defined as “particular group of people, identified as the intended recipient of an advertisement or message – a target audience can be people of a certain age, gender, marital status, lifestyle, etc. Effective marketing is partly the result of the discovery of your target audience.
You can identify your target audience by answering the following questions:
1. What are the characteristics of your target audience?
2. What is the age, gender, income, location, ethnicity, education or occupation?
3. What is their attraction?
4. Is there an adequate size and growth potential?
5. What about your competitors? How did they enter into the market, where are they effective, what is their reach?
6. What are market and industry trends?
Knowing your audience is important because it affects all your communications whether it is on web, print, and media. If you know your target audience you can focus your message, get their attention and win them.
2. Create your message
An extensive research shows that an effective and competitive graphic design message must answer these questions:
• Who Are You? Through your graphic designs, questions about your company must be immediately answered.
• What Are You Selling? You have to creatively showcase the products or services that your company offers.
• Why Would I Want to Buy It? Your message must most importantly answer this question:
“What’s in it for me?” Does your product have a feature or benefit that is superior to others in the market? Is it better, faster, cheaper or the next industry standard?
3. Set-up the Specification of the project
The client may already have an idea of specifications for a design; but if he doesn’t have one, then you can make recommendations. Specifications for a graphic design include the following:
• Dimensions
• Number of pages
• Black and white vs. 2-color vs. 4-color printing
• Paper stock
• Size of print run (the number of pieces to print)
4. Calculate the budget
Most clients have no idea or wouldn’t reveal their budget for a project. Whatever reasons they have, it is wise and safe to ask by telling them politely that knowing their budget will help you determine the parameters (such as timeframe, the amount of design options) you will provide and final cost of the project. In the end, both you and the client should be able to make a comfortable budget range that is fair to both parties without sacrificing the quality of the project.
5. Discuss the Requirements of the Client
Getting at least a little creative direction from the client would be helpful. Ask if there are any designs, design elements or other cues they can give you, such as color scheme, typefaces, logos or other elements that need to be incorporated into your design. Larger clients will often have a style sheet you can follow, while others may just show you some existing designs. Of course, you will be creating something new and unique for them, but some ideas will help you get started.
6. Determine the Delivery Date of the Project?
Find out if the project needs to be done by a specific date. The project may coincide with a product launch or an important event for the company. If no deadline is required, you may create a timeframe for completing the project and present it to the client. This, much like your estimate, can be done after the meeting. If there is a deadline and you feel it is unreasonable, it is common to charge a rush-fee. All of these variables should be discussed prior to the start of the work, so everyone involved is on the same page and there are no surprises.
While following each steps of the graphic design project, be sure to take note of all the needed information such as your target audience, message, project specifications, budget, client requirements, and due date of the project. All these information must be specified in your project proposal. When your project proposal is approved and the contract is signed, then you begin your graphic design process.
